What does a Family Support Specialist Do?

We are here to help students succeed in school!

Family Support Specialists develop relationships with school personnel, parents and students to:

Serve as a liaison and break down the barriers that interfere with the ability of the student to successfully learn in school.
Connect families to school and community support services and programs in the area.
Encourage and facilitate family involvement in their child's learning.
Engage the parents in school activities to promote their child's educational success.
Promote positive behavior and attitudes in students through positive skill-building.
Help link families to basic necessities and resources such as food, clothing, and housing information.
